Hello internet, remember us? (me neither)

Numsi makes his return as a distinguished, married, Melbournian woodsman. But fear not, we are straight in the gutter from the start.

Episode 100. Now it all makes sense.. Don't call it a milestone.

S'Hershel and I hung out at the Commercial Hotel on a Sunday afternoon and reflected on things, with podcasting, life and whatever in between. We laughed, we sung and were joined by some random guy named Darryl (Port Kembla copped on).

Remember to keep an eye on our Facebook page for when we're having our semi regular Sunday sessions on Wentworth Street; the greatest street there is.

Alright, time to kick this shit into overdrive ladies, gentlemen and non-specific folk. It's been a while, but we're trying something here. More on that in a second.

This episode was recorded on a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Port Kembla at the mighty-mighty Commercial Hotel (now with a bistro, check it out here). I was joined by regular fictional character, S'Hershel Walker, and he brought along his two pals Paul Keys (racking up appearance #2) and someone I've wanted to record with for a long time now, but for legal reasons we'll call him Tragic Johnson. We shot the shit in the beer garden, and even picked up a performance artist dressed as William Wallace along the way.

Keep an eye on the Pod Kembla Facebook page for details on when we do these, the plan is we'll post about it the day of or just before, and those who see it and are keen to come along to hang, then here's your invitation. Keep them peepers peeled!

In the meantime, if you like this silly thing we do then tell anyone who'll listen. Share it around, super-impose my head coming out of a dinosaur's rectum. Whatever floats your boat.

There are more to come, and sorry for the extended hiatus (again).

Yet another return after a lengthy period.

I may not be consistent, but I'm consistent with my inconsistency.

It's a return on levels; back to the Commercial, Sean Sheap and S'Hersel Walker are also back.. Hashtag something else back, too. Because; rule of comedy. Something.

Laugh along with us or at us, either or. We're not out to hurt anyone, we just want to make you feeeeeel good.

Special mentions go out to Louise and Fiona for the Co-Production assists, and Lenny for providing the "ambiance" for the first five minutes. Thank-you linesmen, thank-you ball-boys.

We start off on a sad note with this one, Wollongong Hip Hop lost one of it's more colourful characters last week, rest in peace to Rob The Rich as well as condolences to his family and friends.

Afterwards it's the return of S'Hershel Walker, wherein he brought his mate Paul Keys over to my place a few weeks ago. We drank wine, ate garlic bread & spaghetti and talked utter silliness. With a few sneaky songs thrown in for good measure. Spoiler alert: I wasn't the one singing or attempting any music of any kind, never fear.

This week I had a chat with Nik Ranger of Melbourne band Dada Ono. Did we talk about music? Hell nawww! That would be too professional of me wouldn't it? Be that as it may, we had a lovely chat about a bunch of things, but it all ends with Star Trek, cats and podcasts, which basically sums up my life. The music speaks for itself anyway, for which you'll hear in the episode. You can go two better though, head over to their bandcamp page and get Dada Ono's album "Granny Loves Smith", and head out to Dicey Riley's this Saturday night and see them in person if you happen to be in the Wollongong area. If not look out for Nik and Dada Ono in a town near you!

THIS WEEK! It's a good ole fashioned bit o waxing philosophical with Sweeney, live from the West Coast. If you've been listening for a while, you'll know his voice, and maybe even know him in person. If you haven't and you're new, first of all welcome, and then second of all; brace yourselves to hear two grown men, who could talk to each other underwater and with mouths full of rocks about pretty much anything.

I'm almost 34 and I still have no idea how sentences should be structured, oh and I say "basically" a lot now it seems.

Sometimes, doing this silly podcast affords me the opportunity to be exposed to people and ideas I may have never come across. Sometimes I even get to talk to these purveyors of interesting ideas and projects, and this is one of these episodes. Meet Jochen Gutsch, the sound architect behind the Sydney instrumentalist group Hinterlandt. Jochen was nice enough to take some time out of his day to tell me about his journey from Germany to Australia, and his decades of playing very eclectic music. Hinterlandt are touring at the moment and will be playing in Wollongong at Jane's this Friday night (24th of March) launching their latest album, Ode to Doubt, through Sydney label; Art as Catharsis. I've included a couple of their songs on this episode, but do yourself a favour and listen to the whole album yourself. Find it on Bandcamp, or head to their site (http://hinterlandt.org) to get their history and links to all of their music and future shows. Massive thanks to Jochen for chatting to me and enduring my very basic attempts at humour!

The Food Fusion boys met me at Dicey Riley's and we talked fusing food, the correlation between my version of bolognese and my former grass roots revolutionary movement, reality television and food.. And other things. We were even lucky to get a surprise cameo from a guy none of us knew. All in an afternoons podcasting.

I know I've used the intro song before, but it's called "Ice Cream Man" so it's food, so it's related. That and it's a gritty pimpsploitation movie compressed into 4 minutes. In the most awesome of ways.

Long intro, even longer episode! On this one I met up with scholar, podcast producer and friend of mine, Ben, and we hung out at Port Kembla Leagues on a Saturday afternoon and discussed comics, Stephen King and the internet. With a few other things thrown in for good measure. If I wasn't such a lazy man I'd have a number of links for you to click, everything mentioned on the episode in fact. Instead I thought I'd direct you to the podcasts Risky Business and Roguelike Radio, which for me were the big takeaways from this one. I love me a new podcast recommendation!

Oh, and read Ronin by Cranky Frank Miller. If that name hasn't been used before (doubtful) then I claim it as my intellectual property by the power vested in me by posterous dot com. Remember them?

Crossover! Swapcast! Collaborayshun!!

Anyone who listens to this podcast knows who Andy is; the guy gets a mention nearly every episode. I'm sure I'm frightening him at this point.. Don't tell him I said that!

On this one, we met at Cocoon Floatation a few weeks ago on a very warm Sunday morning for a float session at Cocoon Floatation. It was actually the night after the mighty-mighty Sean Sheap's 40th, wherein my son showed far more charisma at not even the age of 2, than I've managed in my entire 33 years on this planet.. But that's another story.

Andy and I recorded beforehand, which can be found by clicking here, and this is straight afterwards. Cocoon is a really cool place, and you couldn't find a better Float Facilitator and purveyor of the good vibes than Megan. Episode 88. The 1st Annual Wollygong Poddies Meetup with Peter Langstaff.

Last month, myself and Peter Langstaff met up once again at the world famous Dicey Riley's just before he embarked on his monthlong voyage around Australia following The Boss himself, John Cougar Mellencamp.. You'll get that poor attempt at humour when you hear it. Anyway, as the Springsteen tour comes to a close, check in on Peter's blog to read all about his adventures following one of his favourite artists all over the country. When Kid Rock does an Australia wide tour one day, I'll be sure to follow in Peter's footsteps.

ALSO! So, I'm 'up for' an award at the Castaway podcasting awards in April. Look, I'm no chance to win, Casefile has it sewn up by the looks of it, and rightfully so. Episode 87. She's a Poet.

The return!.... Again! This one has a loooong intro. Long. Sixteen minutes to be precise, including the song. A note on the intro song; it's from the recently released RTJ3 by the mighty-mighty Run The Jewels and features Zach De La Rocha and it's awesome.

I can't remember if I dreamt this, or it's actually a legitimate rumour, but I've heard somewhere that there's a Zach De La Rocha solo album in the works with production handled entirely by El-P. I hope this is true, but there's been infinite talk of a De La Rocha solo album over the years with only One Day As a Lion the only thing to closely resemble that. That all being said, if you haven't heard any Run the Jewels, and this intro is your first exposure, then head over to https://runthejewels.com/music/ and cop all their shit for free. If you want to pay you can do that too.

So on this episode, Louise joins me just after we watched the Robert De Niro/Anne Hathaway starring vehicle, The Intern. Spoiler alert: I loved it. I'm a simple man it seems. We also reflected on 2016, discussed observing how different children do things in different ways and different timelines, and a whole lot of other tangents and non sequitur's.

ALL. STAR. (pod)CAST. YO.

Myself, Sean Sheap and S. Hershel Walker returned to the Illawarra Record Fair for the 3rd time this year and recorded TWO episodes. This is part one, where we were joined by Peter Langstaff and two former Vox FM alums in DJ Fury and Bruno the Bluesman, also known as Dr. Dust, according to Lord Lucifer. We neglected to actually clarify that, but it sounds cool. I always wanted a cool nickname, like Smokey, but it never took off. It's not the same when you name yourself.

We took in the scenery, had some pub-grub and talked a colossal amount of codswallop about a bunch of things. As mentioned above, this is part one. It would always shit me when podcasts split up episodes into two parts, but I'd like to think we do it artfully.. Or that's what I'm telling myself anyway. Plus you always end up becoming what you hate the most. It's a fact of life.

Stay tuned for Part 2 coming soon...ish.

If you haven't heard already, check the event info below, and also check out the exciting things that Sean Sheap and S'Hershel have happening with their ventures too!

On this episode we basically just talked a bunch of crap at the venue formally known as The Grand, then Cooneys and then The Grand once again, in sunny Wollongong on a Thursday afternoon. Hilarity, wrongness and non-sequesters ensued!

Episode 83. Peter Langstaff meets me at Dicey's.

Peter Langstaff is a really nice guy. Until very recently he was a part of the long running local music radio show "Doing it Locally" on VoxFM. On top of that, he plays and makes music too. A few weeks ago we met up at Dicey Riley's to talk about music, podcasts, comedy and of course radio. In particular, community radio. On this episode, basically I come to terms with the fact that Vox FM is my 'White Whale', or in the podcast parlance; they are the Lorne Michaels to my Marc Maron.. Seeing that typed out makes me look pretty sad indeed! Nevertheless, this one was really fun because I got to chat to a guy I've heard of and know about, but never actually met and it was good times all round. Many thanks to Peter for taking the time out, and keep an eye out for his future endeavours be that of the musical nature, or the podcast variety. Links below. South Coast podcasting ya'll, we're making it happen! More on that later. Vulcan gang sign salutations!

Episode 82. The W@*%ing Dead. (Numsi returns.. Again!)

It's been a minute, or to be more specific it's been over twenty thousand minutes, since our last episode. This time Numsi and myself talked about his recent posting at The Smooth Festival of Chocolate at The Rocks in Sydney. Naturally, being that Numsi is a Melbourne food and drink guru, we talked about food and coffee along with our usual blend of smut peddling.

Now, in a few weeks (6th of November) the mighty-mighty Crate Diggers Collective are putting on the third Illawarra Record Fair for the year at , and yours truly along with the usual suspects will be there to talk a bit of shit and hang out. If you want to buy some records, have a club lunch or even talk some shit with us then come along and join the party! Follow the links and let's get it on!

Episode 81. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why podiums were invented.

The Sheap is back! This time around Sean Sheap and I met up at Dicey Riley's and talked a bunch of smack. Topics covered were the internet, hip hop culture and The Get Down, the downfall of Masters, other things and of course the internet. Yes, I wrote "the internet" twice. Now I've said it three times, and if I was to list it corresponding with the amount of times it comes up on the episode this post would be close to infinite. Oh, and I struggle with the word "plural" it seems, hash tag: #prural.

The documentary we were talking about, but couldn't remember the name of is called "Fresh Dressed" and can be found on here on Netflix.

We also talk about Sean's friend @clay_by_bec who did some tremendous custom figurines for him, so if you'd like some of your own that's where to go.

Last but not least, the Sheap has been uploading some videos on his Facebook page of late, showcasing his wizardry on the 1's and 2's, so if you're not already on that or his online archiving of his vinyl collection go and get yourself acquainted!

Episode 80. Live from Kurt's Tosh with @marcelodraws & @patgrantart

After an extended break, we're back! On this episode I met up with previous guest Marcelo Baez and newcomer to Pod Kembla, Pat Grant. Both of these fine gentlemen are comics creators, ambassadors, educators and all round great blokes. Another thing they have in common is their superb and iconic poster design; in Marcelo's case in the form of the 3D Comic Gong poster that you may have seen around the traps earlier in the year, and Pat drew this years now infamous Yours & Owls Festival poster that has been plastered up and down the South Coast, even making its way as far as Sydney. They both gracefully agreed to meet me at Kürtõsh down at Globe Lane to talk about their craft, comics and design history as well as a little bit of life spruced in for good measure.

However, most importantly I wanted to talk with Pat about his spectacular book Blue, and the subsequent live reading/performance which is happening at the Arts Precinct in Wollongong on Thursday the 29th of September, as a part of the Yours & Owls Fringe Festival events. We also talked about the fellers current and previous projects, all of which you can find links to below. I suggest you check them all out. You can read Blue for free online, or you can purchase hardcopies online or anywhere quality books are sold. If you find yourself in the Wollongong and surrounding areas next Thursday, I strongly suggest you go along to the live performance of Blue and get yourself a dose of quality home grown artistic edutainment.

Episode 79. Illawarra Record Fair II.

Last weekend myself, S'Hershel and Sean Sheap returned to the Illawarra Record Fair at the Bulli Workers Club. This time we actually recorded from inside the room where the records were being sold! That PM Dawn cover song springs to mind.. Also making a return to the podcast is event organiser, Lord Lucifer of the Devils Jukebox on Northside Radio 99.3 for those in and around the Sydney area. It was another terrific time, and as you can imagine we all bought a bunch of shit and talked about it while I derailed the conversations with my weird musings on Jay Z and Beyonce's love life, Serena Williams and just in general. Still, fun times had by all so keep an eye out for the next one in November if that's your thing by following The Crate Diggers Collective on Facebook.

Episode 78. Doesn't make a cent with Troy and Arlin.

I hung out with Troy and Arlin at Troys studio last weekend. I've known Troy forever, we grew up just a few houses away and, along with our respective sisters, spent a fair bit of time together as young'ns having all kinds of adventures.. Then high-school happened. Some people thrive in that environment, some people don't and others have no idea what is going on most of the time and bullshit their way through to 'fit-in' the best that they can. I'm of the third category persuasion.. At least I think I was, it was all a good while ago now. Hash tag; I'm old. Troy has always marched to the beat of his own drum, and that has led him to an existence where he creates things on a daily basis. His friend Rachel, who goes by the name Arlin when making music, joined us and we had a chat about their respective projects all whilst having a good old fashioned conversation jam session over a couple of cold beverages. Oh, and this picture was waiting for me when I arrived to record, drawn by the maestro Troy himself. If you're not familiar with either Troy or Arlin's work be sure to check the links to their networks I've included below.

Episode 77. Anne-Louise Rentell.

Anne-Louise runs the Vault Cabaret, which is held at the Vault on Wentworth Street here in mighty-mighty Port Kembla, and has done the last 13 years. I reached out to Anne-Louise a little while ago because I came across an article about how she was starting up walking tours in Port Kembla. This area has a rich history throughout it's boom times as well as it's not so boom times, up until now where it seems there is a resurgence which has been happening for a few years now. In the walking tours, titled "Where Lies Beauty", this history is explored through examining the area, the architecture and the community through their stories. The first tour was held in April to a very favourable reception. The next is scheduled for the 18th of this month of June, and then again on Saturday the 23rd of July. To keep up with the happenings follow Where Lies Beauty on Twitter and Facebook and drop them a line to get more information. Also, keep an eye out for the Vault Cabaret by checking in with the Merrigong Theatre Co. A gigantic thank-you to Anne-Louise for taking time out of her day to have a chat, on that day in particular, as it was the afternoon of the most recent Vault Cabaret. Recorded at the Commercial Hotel. Our unofficial home away from home.

Episode 76. Andy Social visits Port Kembla.

I've mentioned Andy on the podcast numerous times before, and now he's on Pod Kembla! Ahh the magic of podcasts.. So now you're going to hear me talking about 9 million* dollars until it arrives, ALL. THE. TIME. YAWL!

No, in all seriousness, I came across Andy at the beginning of the year through his podcast "The Andy Social Podcast", but that's not all he does. He's also very prominently the bassist in Australian metal band "LORD" and has toured the world with them. However, his podcast is what I've come to know him for. If you haven't already, you should definitely check it out on iTunesYouTube or any of the other various platforms he has available to get it. He has an array of interesting guests on his show, and I always feel like I've learned something after listening. Whether it be about music, philosophy, business and a broader sense life in general. This is probably something I should be putting in an iTunes review to be honest.. Which I may just do once I get this little blurb thing finished and the episode uploaded.

This time around I talked running (a concept foreign to me, unless we're talking metaphorically) with Josh and Karen. Josh is, first and foremost, an artist and he documents his running quest as an evolving online document via instagram. I ate a burger beforehand, and it was dee-to-the-licious (Thanks Three Chimneys). We laughed, cried and ate chocolate. Sean Sheap and S'Hershel* met me at the Charles Hotel in Fairy Meadow on a Sunday morning and we soaked in the glorious ambiance and had a chat. The Charles holds some significance for Sheap, which he goes into when we were sitting on the front courtyard, where we held court over the rest of the yard. The fact that we were the only ones there at the time isn't important, we rocked that place... HARD! *Tom Gleeson voice*

Episode 72. Float forever @ Cocoon Floatation.

Okay, this one has some backstory. Two years ago, Megan from Cocoon Floatation in Figtree contacted me after listening to this podcast and asked me if I would like to try out floating and podcasting about it. I think when I originally got the emails from her I thought she wanted me to podcast from inside the tank.. Yeah I know, a ridiculous notion, and how I came to that conclusion, I don't know. Well I do know; I'm me and interpret things "creatively" sometimes.. Yeah, that's a nice way of putting it. I guess actually podcasting from inside the tank is not entirely impossible, but after doing it I realise it would be probably counter productive to what you're meant to get from floating.

Anyway, I flaked for a long time. At the time I hadn't recorded the podcast for a while, a few months at least, and I'd convinced myself that I may have been done with podcasting, I was finding it hard to put myself out there, and the thought of going to this place and doing something like floating in salt water in a dark (albeit very spacious) tank and then talking about it freaked me out. Well, fast forward two years and I finally took the plunge for the first time in January, and I've been back another two times afterwards. This episode is me talking with Megan for about ten minutes after my second float, and then the remainder is Megan, myself and my sister talking post float after my third time. Why is it structured that way you ask? The simple answer is sometimes, I can't grasp the simple basic operation of this audio recorder that I've owned and been using for four years now. If you listen, I'm sure I'll over explain it even more. But hey, it was a great time every time I've been, and it's one of those things worth trying. For me personally, I think I get something different every time. I'm looking forward to float four.

Thank-you so much to Megan and Cocoon for having my sister and myself over there, and for being so patient considering the procrastinating I carried on with in terms of actually getting there, and the technical difficulties that ensued once I finally did get my shit together. At the end of the day we got it done and I feel pretty chuffed with the finished product.

Episode 71. To be or not to be; likeable.

The Skype crew has a new name, thus the Church of Daptology is now in session. We discuss how one becomes more likeable by reading listicles, as well as a bit of half baked politics and there's even a "too much information" moment from myself. If I'm realistic, Pod Kembla in general could be accused of having too much (useless) information about me and my idiocy.

We talk that Daptology Philosophy (trademark), like we only know how to do. More to come on that in a week or two.. Stay tuned; the revolution will be podcasted and then consumed at your own leisure.

On location! I met up with Sean Sheap and Snidermayne at the recent "Illawarra Record Fair" at Bulli Workers Club. We talked a little music, a little hot button vulgarity and a whole lot of crap and it was marvellous. Special mention goes out to Lord Lucifer of the Devil's Jukebox for making a cameo on this humble rag-tag podcast, and for putting on a great event along with the Crate Diggers Collective.

Mike Elrington is a blues musician who will be playing at Janes in North Wollongong on the 10th of March, to launch his recently released album "Two Lucky Stars". Mike graciously indulged me with his time to chat about his album, music and life in general. A little house keeping; near the end of the episode I mention Stevie Ray Vaughan, what I meant to say was Neil Young.. If that means nothing to you then that's fine by me, if it does then I'm glad to clear it up for all of us. Anyway, many thanks to Mike for taking time out of his schedule to wax lyrical on Pod Kembla.

Episode 42. What's your beef with Batman?

Recorded last Thursday and uploaded today, I'm sort of productive.. Sort of.

Matt and Gav came around and we spoke to the Zen Master Nuggsy Nug using the wonders of modern technology, and we PROVE TO THE WORLD, as well as some circles around the mighty toe, that the Nug indeed is alive, well and better than ever. Bee fuckin lee dat!

Episode 41. What's the symptoms?

Maximum respect to my dudes Nuggsy and Matt for holding shit down for me this week on the internet front.. I'm late getting this one out, but this time I have the greatest of all excuses, more on that later.. If you've been listening, you know what's up.

This episode was recorded on the Friday afternoon that "the blue/black/gold/white dress" emerged, and features the one of the aforementioned wise men; Matt. As well as the un-silencing of the affable Silent Gav.

I'm pissed off at NBC for not making the #SNL40 clips available worldwide, oh the humanity.

I'm also pissed off at everyone crying about Kanye West; you know the more you complain, the more power he wields right? It's like that "Simpsons" episode where all the advertising billboards come to life and to get rid of them, Lisa writes an advertising jingle to stop the idiot masses from paying any attention to the giant donut man. KANYE IS YOUR GIANT DOUGHNUT MAN! But hey, it's no icing off my pastry treat, I love the donut man.. And the doughnut man, I don't discriminate.

Episode 39. ...continued?

Nuggsey and Matt are back in full effect. There's talk of bonsai (is that the correct plural use?), the nature of the universe, concert etiquitte and the worldwide reach of the Superbowl. It's all over the place, just the way we like it.

The intro and outro music is from a German emcee called UMSE, off the album "Kunst Für Sich", which translates to "Art in Itself". It was released on German record label, Jakarta Records last year. I have no idea what he's saying, but I love the shit out of it. I guess that makes me a flow strumpet.. I always knew I was a vain piece of shit. The beats are by a dude called Deckah, you can check his Soundcloud here--> https://soundcloud.com/deckahbeats

In this very special episode, Numsi and myself attempt to "get in" on the youth market, or trends, or whatever they're saying and we fail with spectacular form as per usual. Our young guest, Ellis, is a recent expat from the States, as in United. We quiz him about being American, Miley Cyrus (of course), and a myriad of other wonderful and thought provokingly* groundbreaking  concepts, imploding all time and space and the idea of philosophy in general. @SeanSheap1 stopped by to chat about hip-hop history, and in particular we delve a little bit more into local Wollongong hip-hop history. We also talked about comic books, the ABC and how to make something called a 'lung'.

In a shocking turn of events we attempt (by checking Wikipedia) to get to the bottom of the mysterious origin of the word 'Kembla'. Plus I debut our new intro theme (at the end of the show) made by a very good friend of mine.. Let us know what you think.

Poice karnts.

Episode 6. Mirxism.

@Traitism is back and along with him he brought Mirx, AKA @ABSORB77 (on Instagram), one of the only real renaissance men I've ever met. We try to make sense of whatever the fuck happened last week in Australian politics. Afterwards we pick Mirx's brain for a good hour about all things hip-hop. Well, for the most part.

Episode 5. Pointless Insults.

This one is a noisy one with myself, @angrychefnumsi, @traitism and @dlinkwnt, and yeah it opens like an episode of Breaking Bad. You've been warned now. However! I guarantee you'll fall over laughing when @angrychefnumsi starts going off on scooter afficionados.

Episode 2. Two white guys talk about racism.

Last week local artist Trait and I got into a sparing match with a Christian group with homophobic and somewhat racist undertones on Facebook.. Yep, Facebook. We both in turn got blocked from the page for our vocal opposition to their bigotry. So I sat down with Trait to talk about what had happened, as well as variety of other things that eventually devolves into myself admitting to being threatened by the idea and ideals of Alan Moore, whatever that means. All in all it's a lovely chat and a big thank-you to Trait for stopping by.
